CXO Fellows Program: We've saved a spot for you

Program Overview

After 10 years of a successful leadership development program by many measures, the decision has been made to discontinue the CXO Fellows Program. Thank you to all who participated in and supported the program over the years. If you have any questions, you can contact the CXO Fellows mailbox: cxofellowship@gsa.gov.

The CXO (Chief Executive Officers) Fellows Program is a VIRTUAL professional development program that engages the next generation of federal leaders in acquisition/procurement, financial management/budget, human capital, information technology, and data. Throughout the year-long program, CXO Fellows have the opportunity to grow professionally and build a diverse network of rising leaders from across the Federal Government.

Program highlights include:

  • Impactful Participation: Since 2014, 856 Fellows have been accepted into the program, representing a diverse group of emerging leaders committed to public service.
  • Agency Engagement: A total of 40 agencies have actively participated in the program, highlighting the broad interest and support across the Federal Government.
  • Coaching Initiatives: Beginning in FY22, coaching was introduced as a core component of the program. To date, 177 Fellows have benefited from personalized coaching, enhancing their leadership capabilities.
  • Expanded Functional Focus: What began as a program focused solely on Finance in 2014 has grown to encompass five total functions today: Finance, Data, Acquisition, IT, and Human Capital.
  • Career Advancement: Since tracking began in FY21, we have observed a yearly promotion rate of 10-14% among Fellows, with a notable increase to 23% in FY24.
  • Expert Contributions: Over the past 10 years, Fellows have had the opportunity to learn from over 150 distinguished speakers, each bringing valuable insights and expertise to the program.
  • Adaptability and Reach: In FY21, the program successfully transitioned to a 100% virtual format. By FY22, it expanded its reach nationwide, with participants joining from 43 states and the District of Columbia.
